Competition Rules

         
  1. The competition is open to all schools with children aged 14 years and under.
  2. All postal entries must bear the correct amount of postage or they will not be accepted.
  3. One entry form should be completed and enclosed with each package of entries.
  4. Only entries on A4 paper will be accepted. Entries in Class A and B may be written in pen or pencil and on lined or unlined paper. Entries for classes C, D and E are to be written in ink on A4 unlined paper.
  5. Entries may be illustrated but may be disqualified if these illustrations or decorations overlap the writing.
  6. In order to maintain anonymity during judging, the entrant's name and age (at the date the entry was written), together with the school's postcode, must be written on the BACK of each entry. Please do not include the name of the school on the back or the front of the entry.
  7. All entries should be grouped together according to the age of the entrant, e.g. all 8 year-olds together.
  8. There is no limit as to the number of entries per school, but only one entry per person is allowed.
  9. The closing date for receipt of entries is 16 May 2012. No acknowledgement will be sent.

  11. Judging will take place by the end of June 2012. Prize winners will be notified in July 2012.
  12. Entries will not be returned, and copyright of the entries shall become the property of the organisers who have the right to publish or exhibit them. The organisers cannot accept liability for lost, defaced or damaged entries.
  13. The decision of the organisers shall be final, and no correspondence shall be entered into.

Checklist

We receive many entries each year and to help us sort them quickly please ensure that you have included the relevant information with the entries from your school. Please make sure you have read the full Competition Rules Good Luck!

  • Is each entry on A4 paper?
  • Is the name and age of each child written on the back of each entry?
  • Is the postcode for the school clearly marked on the back of each entry?
  • Are all the entries clearly divided into batches according to the children's ages (not entry class) e.g. all 7 year-olds' entries together?
  • Have you packed your entries well in order to prevent damage?
  • Have you completed the entry form, weighed your parcel and put on the correct amount of postage?
